About Event

This is the registration for the welcome event of the Community Business Summit! Get all the information about the summit here. And be sure to register for day 2 and 3 events here.

An event and conversation about co-creating a more connected future with community businesses.

This is the first public event of this kind that we are hosting and a lot of enthusiasm and care is going into making it a magical experience for you. We would be honored to have you join us.

We are so excited to welcome Peter Block, a foundational thinker of community structures. Peter will lead a workshop, along with guided small group conversations where we will apply what we learn to our work as community business leaders.

Here are our goals for this event:

  1. For community builders to experience the feeling of connection we bring to others.

  2. For community business leaders to meet and learn from each other so that we can build power and advocate for ourselves as a group.

  3. To find inspiration, new tools and tactics to take back to the communities we lead.

This is for you if:

  • You lead a membership, a course, group coaching program, or other online community-focused business.

  • You're interested in connecting with and learning from other community business leaders.

  • You're up for experimenting and having unexpected conversations with friendly strangers.

If you're a community leader and the above resonates with you, we'd love to have you join us!

If you join, here's what will be expected of you:

  • In this event, you will be split up into small groups using Zoom breakout rooms. We ask that you join from a space where you'll be able to thoughtfully participate and listen to your group members.

  • Building community comes with responsibility. By attending you agree to use these tools with good intentions, not to coerce or manipulate others.

  • To show up as your real human self, not try to impress anyone or give advice.

  • "If you can't say no, then your yes doesn't mean anything." Be willing to dissent and say no if anything during this event doesn't sit right with you, including if you disagree with our questions or anything we share.

✨ We look forward to seeing you on October 4th! Be sure to RSVP on this page and add the event to your calendar ✨

About Tatiana Figueiredo

Tatiana is a community business strategist, teacher, and founder of The Business of Community. Her work is about building small businesses that build connection. As the first employee at Imperative, she led internal community initiatives with clients like west elm, LinkedIn and PwC. As a startup product leader, she led teams spanning engineers, designers and marketers in building profitable consumer and enterprise products. And in the community world, she previously built and grew Techfest Club, an in-person community for women in tech in NY with 2000+ members.

Tatiana is drawn to building community because a lack of belonging is a problem she has experienced and had to solve for herself, firstly when her family immigrated to the US from Brazil when she was 10. Outside of work she loves reading, birdwatching, hosting dinner parties and getting weird on the internet (and even weirder IRL).

About The Business of Community

The Business of Community is a learning organization helping community founders scale values-driven community businesses. We are building a movement to highlight community business leaders and support their work in making society more connected, and people more joyful and whole.

Through Build a Community Business, a course and 1-year community experience, we guide thoughtful community founders in finding their business model, refining their community experience and inviting members in without sleazy marketing tactics. We strive to build our community as a model of possibility for other community businesses.
