Open source plays a critical role in AI sovereignty, enabling nations and organizations to develop and control their own AI technologies, reducing reliance on proprietary solutions and potentially fostering innovation and transparency.

However, adopting an open-source approach to AI comes with its own set of challenges. These include the need for robust community support, continuous maintenance and security updates, supply chain safety, funding, ensuring interoperability between different open-source components, and navigating potential legal complexities.

Panel - The place of Open Source AI in european technological sovereignty

We want to get together with corporate players active in open source AI, as well as members of the open source AI community, to have a discussion around the impact of open source AI for a business, and how they can get together to foster the ecosystem at large.

Discussion topics

The following topics will be presented to attendees who can select several interests. Several breakout rooms will then be arranged based on interest.

  1. Building Sovereign AI Infrastructure with Open Source Tools: Exchange on your existing AI stack and how to transition to open source

  2. Open Source AI Supply Chain Safety: Examining how open source development practices and community oversight can contribute to the security and integrity of AI model supply chains and reduce vulnerabilities.

  3. Ethical Considerations and Open Source AI Sovereignty: Analyzing the ethical implications of AI development and how open source can foster responsible and accountable AI systems within a sovereign context.

  4. Open Data Governance in AI: How data sourcing from the internet and public sourcing
