About Event

🏝️ A team sets out to clean one of the most polluted islands on Earth—Henderson Island—deep in the Pacific Ocean 🌊

Join us for the U.S. Premiere of Pacific Mission—an evening of film, conversation, and community. Co-hosted by the International Ocean Film Festival and Plastic Odyssey Fund, this event brings together ocean lovers, innovators, and changemakers for a powerful story of hope and action on the frontlines of plastic pollution.

The night also features two extraordinary ocean adventurers: Cyril Derreumaux, world-record solo kayaker across both the Pacific and Atlantic, and Alexandre Dechelotte, co-founder of Plastic Odyssey and leader of one of the boldest beach cleanups ever attempted. Together, they’ll share raw footage, behind-the-scenes stories, and reflections from the edge of the ocean crisis.

🎥 Film Synopsis

Directed by Pierre De Parscau, Pacific Mission follows the unprecedented challenge undertaken by the Plastic Odyssey crew in the heart of the Pacific Ocean: removing and recycling over 10 metric tons (22,000 pounds) of plastic waste from Henderson Island—a remote, uninhabited atoll with the highest density of plastic debris in the world. This “impossible mission” reveals what it takes to restore fragile ecosystems and empower the local Pitcairn Island communities to transform waste into building materials.

Cyril will share a short video and reflections from his time alone at sea, offering a powerful perspective on the ocean’s beauty, fragility, and resilience.

🎬 Behind the scenes with Alexandre Dechelotte, Co-Founder of Plastic Odyssey

We’re excited to welcome Alexandre Dechelotte, co-founder of Plastic Odyssey, for the U.S. Premiere of Pacific Mission. Fresh from the expedition to Henderson Island, Alexandre will share behind-the-scenes stories from one of the world’s most ambitious plastic cleanup missions.
