EM Kata #8: Daily Tech Leadership Dilemmas
Every day, EMs need to make a variety of decisions. These often seem small and require quick action. Yet, such decisions can significantly influence the future of the product, the team, and professional growth. Let’s practise making them effectively together.
This time, we will experiment with a new format of small Blitz EM Katas. Each small group will tackle two Blitz EM Katas, and together, all participants will solve four Blitz EM Katas.

💻🖊️ Bring your laptop and a pen with you
Your laptop will be needed for the presentation, and you will need a pen to take notes in our provided materials.

We will provide the EM Kata case along with additional educational materials ahead of time. To make the most of the meetup, you are encouraged to review these resources, allowing you to come prepared, gain deeper insights, and maximise your experience during the event.

❓ What is a Software EM Kata?
EM Kata is a playground where Engineering Managers* can practice their skills and receive immediate feedback.
* — 👨🔬 / 👩🔬EM Kata is also beneficial for
Senior Leaders: Head of Engineering, Engineering Directors, VPs, CTOs — to practice and enhance mentoring and coaching skills.
Tech/Team Leads: To acquire essential skills for a successful transition to an EM role.
Senior Software Engineers: To gain insight into EM responsibilities and explore if a leadership career path interests them.
Agile Coaches: To better understand the challenges faced by EMs and the skills they require, enabling better support for them at work.
Each small group works on identifying the root causes of the challenges by analysing them from different perspectives, determining the most efficient strategy to solve them, developing a detailed plan, and necessary team constellation changes & architecture.
