About Event

Y-Exchange is a by-monthly public talk on Art and Science hosted by Kinetech Arts since 2014.

Join us on July 17th for an exploration of the creative process as visual artist Stella Zhang and choreographer Lizz Roman take the stage for an intimate conversation and behind-the-scenes look at their artistic practices.

Lizz Roman, artistic director of Lizz Roman & Dancers has been a dancer and choreographer in San Francisco since 1984. The work has been described by critics as “eloquent, breathtaking, provocative and captivating”. L&D are best known for expansive dances that spring, roll and fly through buildings, resulting in awards for Outstanding Achievement in Choreography for “SUNSET DANCES” (2017) and “DEEPER” (2012). The company has developed innovative site-specific techniques to work in unique and commonplace locations with a variety of multi-media collaborators and scenic elements. Roman’s latest collaborators are filmmaker/choreographer Peter Litwinowicz and musician/composer Jerome Lindner. Roman teaches modern dance at ODC Dance Commons and is a choreographic mentor for ODC’s PILOT PROGRAM and The Young Choreographers Forum.
