Aiya Collective Presents: Mindfulness and Calligraphy Workshop (Chinatown Care Package Series)
You’re invited to our Mindfulness and Calligraphy Workshop on Sunday, May 19!
Calligraphy is the traditional visual art practice of brush writing text and lettering. Known as the “First art” in Chinese culture, the direct translation of calligraphy in Chinese means “the method or law of writing” 書法.
Calligraphy as a practice invites the participant into calmness, concentration, and peace of mind. With a focus on the movement of the hand, the gentle brushstrokes allow the artist to settle into a rhythm and encourage awareness of the body, including breathing and heartbeat.
Learn about the basics of calligraphy and practice words in our Mindfulness and Calligraphy Workshop facilitated by Stephen Tsang, an experienced calligrapher in our community.
We will be providing the materials including brush, ink, and paper, so registration for this workshop is required. The link is in our bio.
