#deinfluence Marketing Trend

Hi Founder,

Have you used influencers during the past year? How have your results been? Did they look something like this:

  • Spent $2K monthly for an influencer list

  • Paid $900 for the influencer you chose to make an IG story for you (may or may not even tag you in it)

  • The video they made for you doesn’t even get used or sits on your website

  • You question your return on ad spend?!

I hear this time and time again from founders who reach out to me for help, and I don’t want this to happen to you. The influencer space is getting even more wonky now with the trends FROM INFLUENCERS that are focusing on #deinfluence in order to help people see how they are getting paid to promote products. I found this article interesting that they are trying to blow up their own income stream.

I say all of this because creating your own custom list of influencers (to avoid monthly fees) tends to be a more authentic and tailored marketing approach for your brand than just blindly selecting from networks of influencers. You want to ensure that these influencers make sense for your target audience. Do they speak to your customers? Are they authentic to your customers? Do they provide you with a unique link to speak to your brand?

This Thursday, I will be teaching you how exactly to understand your customer audience. It will be an interactive class to figure out exactly who you need to speak to and what they need.

Book Club

Based on the positive feedback I got from the last book suggestion, I wanted to share a tried and true book that most founders read at some point: E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber.

I am teaching a class with the Renaissance Women’s Business Center to help more moms become entrepreneurs and through building the Tips and Tricks for entrepreneurship, I found a really useful insight in this book around the 3 elements of entrepreneurship:

  1. Technician

  2. Entrepreneur

  3. Manager

I don’t want to give the book away, but founders like you need to move from being the technician to hiring the managers (such as marketing managers like me) in order for us truly to become the entrepreneurs we all want to be.
