This has been an eventful week in the startup ecosystem.
EdTech is going offline - The EdTech giant Unacademy launched two offline learning centres in Kota of Rajasthan. The company has onboarded over 30 top educators for its Kota Centres from the existing players in the kota ecosystem. The hiring of teachers from Kota-based institutes had not gone down well with Allen. Recently, head of Allen Coaching in a video message had threatened the teachers leaving the institute by stating that it would blacklist them.
Google Launches Startup Accelerator Program For Women Founders In India. The programme will place special focus on areas like access to networks, access to capital, hiring challenges, mentorship and many others which, for a variety of social reasons and low representation, prove challenging for female founders.
Elon Musk joins Twitter all-hands meeting amid acquisition deal. Speaking remotely, Musk praised the Chinese social media and mobile payments app WeChat and TikTok as potential examples of his vision for Twitter, pointing out that the two apps have gained many millions of loyal users.
Fundings of the week
This week, 37 Indian startups raised funding, of which 31 received a total of about $600.38 million. CRED and PhysicsWallah were the top fundraisers which scooped up $140 million and $100 million respectively. Last week, 33 homegrown startups raised funding worth about $525.81 million.
