Hello all Deeeps!

Global poverty remains one of the most significant challenges facing humanity in the modern era. The world is home to an estimated 800 million people living in extreme poverty, with billions more struggling to meet basic necessities such as food, shelter, and healthcare. Solving global poverty is a complex problem that requires a comprehensive approach, incorporating various solutions that address the root causes of poverty.

My new poverty deep dive will focus on education, creating economic opportunities, providing social services, gender inequality and its effect on poverty, and global cooperation. It is updated daily.

Poverty is a multi-dimensional issue and I consider it a "hard domain" for machine curation algorithms. It is challenging for machines to find the interesting and relevant knowledge when the topic is so extremely large. This new deep dive is powered by an experimental algorithm called Jezero 7 that can research domains such as this.

Why is the algorithm called Jezero 7?

Jezero is a crater on Mars that was the landing site for the Perseverance rover. Before the rover, the term Jezero was pretty much never used. It suddenly popped in my database as a very rare word just when NASA launched the rover, and its investigation (on the NLP+data side) resulted a very long chain of events that resulted in the novel algorithms that I use today to find "the interesting stuff". A little bit of tech history for the many geeks reading.

Hannes Marais
