Rihanna's Marketing Tricks 🏈

Hi Founder,

Typically, on the days after the Super Bowl, I usually post winners/losers of the Super Bowl commercials. Did their branding or product actually get in front of the right audience?  Was their message clear? Was it worth the $6-7 million dollar investment? 

However, since I was chasing my kids throughout the game, I was able to sit through one second of the commercials, which was Tubi TV …since I thought a kid grabbed the remote and saw zero seconds of the game (and I am actually a KC Chiefs fan), but everyone in the room seemingly stopped to watch Rihanna’s halftime show! Therefore, I’d say Rihanna won the true Super Bowl advertising game as she was able to:

  • Surprise everyone

    • Baby announcement

    • Fenty Makeup Product Launch

  • Drive Curiosity 

    • In her performance, she had tons of subliminal messages in the colors, dance moves and clothing 

  • Gave additional value 

    • She performed 12 songs (only one of my favorites she missed was Love the Way You Lie probably because Eminem wasn’t there...) 

What’s always interesting about Rihanna is how broad her target audience is (hence why she can perform at the Super Bowl). She isn’t narrowly focused into a specific genre anymore; she has truly expanded outside and knows how to hit her audience, deliver them what they are looking for with additional value, and how to leave them satisfied every time.
