Entrepreneurs Best Decision

Hi CEO/ Entrepreneur juggling a million things,

Over and over I hear from your peers that the best decision they ever made was to outsource marketing as early as possible (assuming you have the right person or agency in place that is). In today's world, there are so many “experts” you have for marketing that it becomes a time suck to manage them (SEO, media, PR , designer, website etc.). The approvals get bottlenecked on your desk and it feels like nothing is working and connected together. After that, you keep changing tactics and strategies trying to figure out where the issue is. Sound familiar?

Recently, an old CMO that I worked with at a Fortune 500 company reached out to me to help HER put together a marketing strategy for her new business. She’s bootstrapping her company mind you, but she felt just too close to the business to be able to realistically see the opportunities for marketing. She felt that someone from the outside could easily spot them and create a better marketing plan. Also, she wanted to partner with Sprinkles Parents to get parents feedback and insights on the product itself. It was a really great experience that I will highlight in a future email once we get some results to share.

With all of that said, this made me realize that there are so many traps that entrepreneurs can easily fall into with their marketing, so I want to share them with you so you  can avoid them:

  1. Too close to market (not able to see what’s out there and what you need)

  2. Too many experts to manage and not able to connect the dots/make a process

  3. No expertise to evaluate each marketers works (are these keywords good?)

  4. Testing different marketing tactics “to see what sticks” but not getting something stuck…

  5. Hiring a sales headcount before marketing (which is way more expensive with commissions etc.) then the sale doesn’t pick up since it needs the marketing to meet it’s goals

I want to see everyone who reads this email set up for successful marketing, so promise me you will avoid the traps! If you have fallen into the trap, I would be happy to help you in any way.

Client Highlights

Going to take a moment to humble brag about my company Sprinkles Parents. If you are new here, Sprinkles Parents is a parent solutions platform. I provide education, activities and resources to parents of kids under 5 years old. In 2018 I noticed women at work crying in the pump room ALL THE TIME and then once the pandemic hit, I saw parents were isolated and needed a “village” to help raise their kids as well as balance work and parenting. I kept seeing the same questions asked over and over in other FB groups. I use those questions in order to create webinars. For example, I constantly see parents asking about how to budget/financial plan for their babies. Check out:  Sprinkles Parents Finance Planning for Your Child’s Future, Sponsored by Todlr

You are probably thinking, where is the fancy website marketing lady? Are keywords optimized? Well, I don’t have a pretty website on purpose. I want to feel grassroots/authentic/underground and that secret solution that only you found. Every week, I send emails (like this) to parents and have an average 75% open rate!

I have sponsorships for brands to connect directly with parents. My niche is all about high engagement instead of a scale play. To me, every dollar should count which is why I prefer quality over quantity. Engagement is the secret to marketing since this audience is likely to take action.

Through my Sprinkles Parents community, I can tap into the 2K parents community to get feedback (think packaging/colors, product names, reviews). Some brands have even leveraged Sprinkles for content. blogs, webinars and email lists. Pretty cool huh?

Feel free to reach out to see how Sprinkles Parents could help your business too!

Yes, it was yesterday, but there was a technology system glitch so this email was sent out a day late.

What kind of marketing email would this be without acknowledging Giving Tuesday?
