Come Make Dumplings With Us! 🥟

Christine Wong, the author behind The Vibrant Hong Kong Table (which VegNews and Tasting Table called one of 2024’s best cookbooks), is hosting a special dumpling-making experience as part of the New York Asian Arts Festival.

Roll up your sleeves and dive into the delicious world of dumplings in this immersive, hands-on class perfect for food lovers of all skill levels! Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned home cook, you’ll learn how to make dumpling wrappers from scratch (yes, it’s easier than you think!), try your hand at traditional folding techniques, and explore different cooking methods.

✨ Fun fact: Making dumplings together is a cherished tradition across many cultures—not just for the food, but for the joy of gathering. Folding dumplings can even be meditative, and it’s a beautiful (and delicious) way to slow down and connect—with food, with others, and with yourself.

Come hungry and leave happy—with a belly full of dumplings and the skills to recreate the magic at home. Gather your friends, co-workers, or make it a solo culinary adventure—you’re in for a flavorful, feel-good experience!

Sugary NYC Community,:

Sugary NYC is more than just a newsletter—it’s a movement designed to elevate human connection through curated cultural experiences.

Founded by Gary Su, who has spent over two decades immersing himself in New York City’s vibrant arts and social scene, Sugary began as a way to keep in touch with the thousands of meaningful connections he made.

In 2023, Gary and his business partner DK Kim launched the Sugary Newsletter, bringing together 19,000 personally-met subscribers to engage in thought-provoking ideas and exclusive, highly curated events.

20% of the proceeds from ticket sales will support the Asian American Federation (AAF) an organization committed to driving change through research, policy advocacy, public awareness, and support for nonprofits in New York City. Their initiatives address community safety, mental health, economic empowerment, immigrant integration, and civic engagement to bridge the gap between Asian New Yorkers and the vital resources they require to thrive.

This May, we’re thrilled to launch the first-ever New York Asian Arts Festival: a citywide celebration spotlighting underrepresented Asian American artistry and reimagining of how we engage with culture through art.

From curated exhibitions of talented Asian artists to hands-on activations in partnership with art studios across the city, NYAAF invites you to create + connect with the community.
