About Event

This Bay Area Transit Month join your fellow crafters for a unique and creative experience. Bring your favorite craft project to work on BART as we go from Lake Merritt to the San Jose Flea Market.

Share your artistic flair with fellow riders as we all make art and make friends! Once we arrive at the Flea Market, you can explore a vibrant selection of food, goods, art, and crafts from local vendors. What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon?

The details:

At 1pm, we'll be gathering at the Lake Merritt BART concourse, in the fare gated area. If you are coming on BART from San Mateo, San Francisco, Richmond, Castro Valley or Concord, take BART to Lake Merritt, hop off the train and join us upstairs at 1pm. Once we're all gathered, we'll head down as a group to board the 1:27pm train to the Berryessa / North San Jose BART Station. At 2:20 PM, we will arrive at the Flea Market.

On the train, craft to your hearts delight! Whether you knit, crochet, needlepoint, draw, sketch, embroider, origami, quilt or something else, bring your crafting gear and come craft on BART! Please no watercolors, ceramics/pottery, painting, gluing, glitter, or other very messy crafts.

FAQs:

What's it cost? While the event is free, you still need to pay your BART fare. Also, entry to the San Jose is $5.

What should I bring? Bring yourself, your Clipper card, and whatever crafting supplies you need

What if I don't have crafting supplies? You're still invited! Crafters tend to have extras and so you might be able to make a friend and borrow some supplies from a fellow attendee.

Can I bring extra supplies? YES! Bring stuff to share if you'd like, but please remember to take any extra extras with you when you leave BART.

Why are we crafting on BART? We're crafting on BART for the same reason we craft anywhere: because we can. Also, it is Bay Area Transit Month!

Can I bring my friend/invite my craft club? YES!!!! The more the merrier. Can you imagine if we filled an entire BART train with crafters?
