plant-based supper club: how to organize and influence
Soapbox Project, Amrūt, and Rethink Food are so excited to welcome you to our April plant-based supper club. This month we'll be partnering with Bea Olive Oil. Bea Olive Oil is a mission-driven company dedicated to reviving Italy's many abandoned olive groves and open-sourcing the FDA approval process so that small-scale farmers can thrive--and Americans can access real olive in a market overwhelmed by couterfeits.
We can't wait you invite you to a joyful community space where you can connect, learn, and take action towards a more resilient future.
“Time slowed down and we just ate, laughed, and talked for hours. This evening was so special and I feel so much more closely connected to my community!”
What to expect
We'll welcome you to an evening of vibrant, nourishing, and seasonal food. You'll get a four-course meal, where each course is paired with a climate action prompt.
Here's what's on the menu for the night:
plant-based dishes crafted from locally sourced and upcycled ingredients (food that would have otherwise gone to waste)
a nourishing meal, great company, and thoughtful conversation prompts
a learning session with a local expert
a guided climate advocacy exercise that connects you with your local representatives
a community chat that helps you continue conversations with your new friends and take bite-sized actions together in the future
Theme: How to Organize and Influence
In a time of climate urgency, individual action matters—but collective action transforms. This dinner explores the power of organizing and influence as tools for systemic change. From grassroots movements to digital advocacy, we’ll discuss how people mobilize others, shift culture, and reshape policy.
How do we move beyond awareness into action? How do we build trust, momentum, and sustained engagement in a noisy, fractured world? And how can each of us—no matter our role—become more effective at driving change?
As we share a seasonal, plant-based meal sourced with care, we’ll also share ideas, strategies, and stories of what it takes to organize for a livable future—and influence the systems that shape it.
Location: Rethink Food Sustainable Community Kitchen, 116 W Houston Street (upcycled food will be sourced by them!)
Date & time: Thursday, April 17th, 6-9pm. Dinner service will start at 6:30pm sharp, so please try to arrive on time
Purpose: Deepen your connection with the place you live and the people around you so we can transform our climate anxiety and loneliness into meaningful action. Also, have fun!
Price: $80 general admission, $40 for Soapbox members (you can join our membership here). Providing access to spaces like these is really important to us--if cost is prohibitive, reach out to us at roopa@soapboxproject.org
