Call to Action: Support Neighbourhood Retail and Services at City Council
City Council is voting on a report regarding the Retail and Services component of the Expanding Housing Option in Neighbourhoods (EHON) initiative. This is part of the upcoming council meeting planned for December 17th to 19th. Please register for this event if you would like us to keep you updated about this initiative.
We're asking you to send a written comment in support of PH17.2 before December 17th so it can be included in the official record.
City staff has provided the following guidance for submitting a written comment:
Email councilmeeting@toronto.ca directly with your written comment.
Include the item number in the subject line. Something like "Written Comment for City Council regarding PH17.2 - Neighbourhood Retail and Services Study Phase Two Final Report".
Address city council at the top of the email. They suggested that “To the mayor and members of city council” would work well.
Include your full name at the bottom of your email.
They also noted comments will become part of the public record, so keep in mind that our local leaders, city staff, and members of the public will be able to see what you share.
This report was submitted to city council without a recommendation from the Planning and Housing Committee after concerns about alcohol, marijuana, noise, and bylaw enforcement were flagged. This means there is a real possibility the report could be delayed, watered down, or even completely rejected by city council if we don't loudly push for positive change.
