Pen to Paper
This month's theme is "In Transition."
In this session, you'll learn the basics of crafting a story and adding dimension to your writing. We'll play with the seasonality of life and use words to examine the many transitions we often must navigate. This workshop will be a safe space for reflection and creative expression without judgment.
WORKSHOP PLAN
Bus Stop Meditation
Writing Exercises
Flow writing
Partner listening
Prompted journaling
Penning the Eulogy
The Repast - optional sharing and group mingling
We will start with a guided meditation meant to seamlessly transition you from the outside world to your presence in the drawing room. Here, you'll engage with the many factors that have contributed to the person you are and will be once the workshop is complete. Then, we'll move into several writing prompts and exercises using the space, partners, and journals. Finally, you'll embark on the workshop's primary prompt and eulogize an aspect of your life or yourself that no longer serves. Dive deep into the opportunity to use vulnerability, language, comedy, poetry, and storytelling to say goodbye to the past and hello to the future. We will end the class with a chance to share and socialize to connect deeper with the members of our writing community.
This workshop is excellent for solo writers or a fantastic way to connect with partners and friends! This is a beginner-friendly class with opportunities for feedback and deeper instruction.
Instruction and facilitation by Rachel Herron.
