Creative Writing Workshop
Join fellow creative professionals in the ongoing search for truth, beauty and process (whatever those mean to you) in this three-hour creative writing workshop.
In this generative workshop led by writer and editor Corinne Lestch, participants will be introduced to new works in different genres and get into a flow state with free-write prompts and exercises.
Together we will read and analyze excerpts from a survey of fiction and nonfiction—including short stories, flash fiction, memoirs and essays—to see how authors use literary techniques such as plot, dialogue, setting and point of view to hold the reader's attention and carve out meaning.
Participants will take away ideas for new projects, an understanding of the writing process and a vocabulary for how to critique creative work. All levels welcome.
Corinne Lestch's essays and journalism have appeared in outlets including The London Reader, New York Daily News and Publishers Weekly. Her short fiction has been nominated for Pushcart Prizes and recognized by Narrative Magazine. She was most recently a deputy editor at Forbes, where she created and led seminars on reporting and writing techniques and oversaw content about the future of work and business trends. She is currently at work on her first novel.
