About Event

In this workshop, you will hear from experts on mastering the art of effectively communicating your research to a broader audience. This workshop will cover best practices for identifying key elements of compelling science narratives and provide insight in crafting and refining your own research stories. Additionally, you will learn how to utilize social media to engage with both scientific peers and the public, as well as how to build meaningful relationships with journalists.

 Key Learning Objectives

  1. Master the Art of Science Storytelling: Learn how to identify and highlight the most compelling elements of your research to create engaging science stories.

  2. Utilize Social Media Professionally: Discover strategies to leverage social media platforms to amplify your scientific work and engage with diverse audiences, including scientific peers, media, and the general public.

  3. Develop Effective Media Relations: Gain insights on building strong relationships with reporters and journalists to effectively communicate your science story and thrive in media interviews.

This workshop will be facilitated by Veronica Rueckert, National Media Relations Specialist, UW-Madison, and Mariel Mohns, Communications Specialist, Morgridge Institute for Research.
