​OffChain Luxembourg, in collaboration with The Blockchain Academy, organizes a 12 session-course:

​“Introduction to Blockchain, cryptocurrencies and the Web3”

​Why?

​Alongside Artificial Intelligence, another technological revolution is bound to transform societies: Blockchain technologies and their main embodiments, cryptocurrencies and the decentralized applications collectively referred to as the “Web3”.

​Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies such as Ether are already being offered as an investment vehicle in the US and other jurisdictions. The recently inaugurated 47th American President Donald Trump is planning to declare cryptocurrency as a “national” (US) priority!

​In Europe, the MiCA regulation establishes a legal framework for crypto and brings legal certainty and a supportive stance to innovation, while also addressing consumer protection and financial stability concerns. Although the pace of innovation is more measured in Europe, this new class of financial products will definitively become available to European investors.

​Should you consider them? Are they appropriate for you? And how to distinguish among the tens of thousands of different products, often claiming a competitive advantage based on their innovative technology? What exactly is the promise of this “blockchain” technology? And how could it impact you beyond the financial domain?

​For Who?

​This class is intended for adults who are curious about technology, finance and law, and want to get acquainted with cryptocurrencies and “blockchain”.

​You’ll learn what cryptocurrencies and their underlying “blockchain” technology are, and how they differ from existing financial and value-transmission technologies. You’ll learn how to use cryptocurrencies and decentralized applications in your everyday life and make the best of what the “Web3” world has to offer. You will be able to analyze and compare different crypto-asset-based products. In a society under threat from AI-generated fake information, you’ll understand how blockchain and cryptographic technologies can restore trust and unveil a novel political, social and economic paradigm. We’ll also introduce you to the basics of smart contract programming, “tokenomics”, and specific legal and compliance aspects.

​What

​The course is comprised of 12 two-hour sessions, every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 18h30 to 20h30, hosted in a classroom equipped with computers. Classes will be taught by our two teachers, Wim Stalmans (The Blockchain Academy) and Sorin Cristescu (OffChain Luxembourg asbl). Attendance will be rewarded with the “Offchain Luxembourg Token” (OCLT), a custom crypto-asset that OffChain Luxembourg asbl issues and distributes. A final certificate will be issued to the participants on the blockchain.

​From February 25th to April 3rd, at the Athénée de Luxembourg, 24, boulevard Pierre Dupong, L-1430 Luxembourg, in the INFO 4 “IT” classroom (North wing, -1)

​How

​The 24 classroom hours are priced at 240€ and will be payable by credit card, G-Pay or ApplePay. House of Web3 members pay a special price of 200€. OffChain Luxembourg members (yearly membership scheme) pay a special price of 160€.
