About Event

Overall purpose:

To provide a safe space free of judgement where neurodivergents (millennials and Gen Z)from all backgrounds can gather together, have insightful discussions, and make new connections. It's also free!

Who is this for?

This group is primarily aimed at Millennials and Gen Z who are diagnosed with or suspect that they have a neurodivergent condition. These include autism, ADHD, dyslexia, among others.

Duration: 2.5 hours

The event is divided into three rounds:

Round 1: Ice-Breaker Dialogue

There will be "ROUND 1" cards with prompts. The topics are more light in tone, and can include random scenarios. You can always pass on a prompt if you don't wish/don't know how to answer it. Discussions of answers is encouraged, and the conversation can go in any direction from there, if the group feels inclined to such.

Round 2: Charades in a Box

To provide a change of pace, Round 2 always involves a simple game or activity and is often shorter than the other two. This time, "Charades with a Box" is the name of the game. I'll bring slips or sticks that each have a specific topic written on them.

1. Each person will pull one at random, without showing anyone else.

2. Someone starts by coming up with something that fits within the "box" of their topic.

3. For the sake of flow, there will be a time limit of 3 minutes per person.

4. I'll have extra slips/sticks just in case.

Round 3: Deeper Dicussions

Like Round 1, this round involves being in groups and answering "ROUND 3" card prompt questions. These prompts are more serious in nature, and are mainly related to aspects of life as a neurodivergent.

End:

A closing discussion and any upcoming announcements.

Breaks and sensory accommodations: There will be breaks lasting around 5-10 minutes in between rounds to give people time to decompress and loosen up before the next round.

People are encouraged to excuse themselves as needed during a round to take a sensory break. Also, feel free to bring fidget/stim toys if you'd like, and even food and/or drink. Of course, if you need to leave the event early for any reason, that is completely understandable. Safety and comfort are my top priorities.
