Three Ideas About Progress: Ever Upwards
Three Ideas About Progress is a lecture mini-series from the Toronto Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge presented by Daybreak Studio.
Ever Upwards: The Engine of Progress
What exactly changed in the 1600s to lead to the explosion in economic growth, science and technology of the last few hundred years? In this first lecture we will look at one idea that could explain the origin of this progress.
The lecture will be given by Benjamin Parry. Much of the discussion will be pulled from the works of Joel Mokyr and Anton Howes.
After the lecture we will be hosting a social hour with drinks, and vinyl spinning. There will be music, good vibes, deep conversation and maybe even dancing? No matter what it's going to be groovy.
This series is an experiment to figure out what great intellectual infrastructure for Toronto might look like. We hope you will be able to join us.
