A new humane social media platform for Iceland: a discussion evening with Ben Gruber

​Social media is essential infrastructure in today's digital world. But the commercial platforms we use to stay connected are optimized for profit, not people. Surveillance, manipulation, and polarization are features of these networks, not bugs. What if we built something better that maintains the benefits and ditches the downsides? We, a small group of tech activists, present our ideas for a public-benefit alternative: a social network for Iceland that’s identity-verified, bot-resistant, ad-free, and designed to serve people — not exploit its users.
