About Event

UPDATE: Jonathan will be joining us virtually due to a last-minute west coast trip and will be taking questions over video call.

The event will proceed in person.

Meet fellow founders and builders in the AI space at Dover's office in Chelsea for our 3rd meetup.

We'll start off with a 30-min Fireside Chat and Q&A with Jonathan Frankle, Chief Scientist at MosaicML (acq'd by Databricks). The chat will be moderated by Anvisha Pai, co-founder and Chief Product Officer at Dover.

Afterwards, we'll open it up for food, drinks and conversation with AI founders and builders. Due to limited capacity, we'll be prioritizing attendees who are actively building in the AI space.

About Jonathan Frankle: Jonathan is the Chief Scientist at MosaicML, leading the company’s research team toward developing more efficient algorithms for training neural networks.

When the Databricks acquisition closes, Jonathan will join Databricks as Chief Neural Network Scientist. He will expand upon his work at MosaicML in the new role.

Jonathan attended Princeton, and worked at Google, Google Brain, and Facebook AI Research. He completed his PhD at MIT, where he focused on using experimental methods to understand the behavior of neural networks. He published his Lottery Ticket Hypothesis to show that neural network pruning could preserve accuracy while reducing the parameter counts of trained networks by >90%, winning best paper at ICLR 2019.

Jonathan currently works with the OECD to implement the set of AI Principles he helped develop back in 2019. He also previously served as the inaugural Staff Technologist at the Center on Privacy and Technology at Georgetown Law, where he contributed to a landmark report on police use of face recognition technology, and co-developed a course on Computer Programming for Lawyers (earning himself the title “Adjunct Professor of Law”).
