DesignShift: From Influencing Nature to Influenced by Nature
About the event
Nature used to influence how we designed. Now how we design influences nature. Join us for a 1.5 hour long co-creation session to explore how we can use nature as a guide in our work and our lives.
We used to design tools based on the material we had at hand. We used to let the wind guide how we constructed buildings. Our design choices (and life) used to be influenced by the natural, local environment. Now, we’re creating global solutions and implementing technologies that help us (momentarily) override nature. The price we pay in disconnection and destruction.
Join us to explore how we can shift from design decisions influencing nature to nature influencing our design decisions.
In the session, we will: reflect on questions, be with tensions, and practice shifting our practices, perspectives, and the purpose of our work.
Good to know:The session will center co-creation and exploration. We believe that no one knows it all, but together we know a lot. We will explore thinking about, being with, and shaping the Shifts as a collective force.
Join us if you are
looking for new ways to let nature guide your work.
passionate about creating a better future.
open to connect with others on a similar journey.
About DesignShifts
DesignShifts is a collaborative learning journey exploring a better future for and through design. Through theory, practice, and community we challenge the status quo, imagine better futures, and co-create the DesignShifts needed to aid the transition towards a better tomorrow. The goal is to move design from a tool that contributes to division, destruction, and isolation to a practice that unites, rebuilds, and reconnects us to our inner selves, each other, and nature.
