About Event
Today, our work at JCNWR involves post-translocation monitoring and habitat maintenance. For our workday, we will start the day by checking our artificial burrows in hopes of finding any prospecting Bonin petrels, and then spend the rest of the day doing invasive plant removal with herbicide (cut and drip method) to improve habitat for seabirds.
Location
James Campbell National Wildlife Refuge
Kahuku, HI 96731, USA
Everyone must wear close-toed shoes, long pants, and either wear or bring a long sleeved shirt. The weather can vary from windy and rainy to hot and muggy, so it is nice to come prepared with a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and rain gear. Bring whatever snacks/fuel you may need and water to stay hydrated. We will have a jug to refill water bottles. Binoculars are recommended for wildlife viewing.
