Finding The Right Ally in a Complicated World

As we get older, finding genuine friends to stay by your side gets harder everyday as we find it hard to invest our time, energy and even money into the right people. This mentorship session will focus on the discussion on why it is an obstacle to find friends when transitioning from being a student to adult hood; and how can we find the right people to put our value and trust in.

Being a student, whether in high school, college or university is an excellent and fruitful time to set up key foundations for outstanding growth.

Currently, I am an LLB Law with Criminology student studying at the University of Manchester under the Brunei Government MOE scholarship. However, the pathway I had to go through in high school and sixth form was not an easy one to get to where I am now. From lack of confidence to self-doubt, from being full of anxiety to feeling hopeless, and from having many regrets to having a lack of self-control, there are many obstacles and challenges students to have to face as time moves by day after day. Therefore, I would like to help mentor, teach and empower other students on how to secure a foundation of self-growth in which they will carry for years to come.

Whether it is helping them in balancing their academics and extracurricular activities; building up their confidence in delivering presentations or public speaking; and most importantly, having a strong and healthy mental wellbeing, I would very much like to help guide them on a path that would lead them to their full potential. As I was a Student Counsellor helping other students with their well-being during my years in the sixth form, and a former member of the Brunei Gavel Club where I learned the basics of gaining confidence in public speaking, I would love to share what I have learned to other students in order for them to be global changing citizens of the future. To teach and guide them in having a strong sense of perseverance to any challenges they may come across and become the best versions of themselves tomorrow.
