To say 'Unplugged' is an open mic is to say a tomato is a fruit. Technically true but something else entirely.
It's a community. It's joyful. It's a place for you to be yourself. A space to connect with wildly amazing humans and artists.
And by the end of the evening you'll leave with a touch of magic, love, vulnerability, and a real sense of belonging with people who are cool in their craft and heartwarming at the same time.
This is our 10th edition in New York and our 134th edition worldwide (Bali, Amsterdam, New Zealand, Dominican Republic).
✨ We welcome all who have that one piece of poetry, a song, a story, a dance, or other artistic expression that really needs to be unleashed into the world.
And if you just want to kick back and let all the creativity wash over you, that's fine too.
Bring your friends and experience, express, and connect on a night of art with heart.
How it works:
Doors at 7pm. We will start promptly at 7:30 and you won't be able to get in once we start!
BYOB — Feel free to bring to share! Snacks will be provided.
Each event we will have a featured artist to perform at the end
Donations: Our goal is to make these events as accessible as possible, which is why we make everything donation-based. It takes a lot of time and money to put on these gatherings, so anything you can give above the minimum helps us sustain the magic. Let's keep building beautiful spaces together! :)
Final Performer: Brian Acosta Arya
Brian Acosta Arya is a man of many hats but he is most well known as New Jersey’s “Motel Guy”. Since 2019, Brian has gained over 1 million subscribers across social media mainly on TikTok where he tells his life story through content he refers to as “visual poetry”. Brian’s way with the written word has led him to be crowned a 7 time poetry slam champion, taking wins at both the Nuyorican Poet’s Cafe and Brooklyn Poetry Slam. As a member of the New York Poetry Society Brian was recently a featured performer at the 2024 New York Poetry Festival. U.S Senator Corey Booker, actor Michael Imperioli and the American Idol herself Kelly Clarkson call themselves fans.
