Creation and Destruction - Genspace Biomaterials Studio group exhibition
Genspace Biomaterials Studio presents a group exhibition exploring the dynamic tension between creation and decay.
Creation and Destruction speaks to the cyclical nature of existence—where something new is birthed only for it to begin decomposing. These works sourced from living organisms or natural processes, embody the constant flux between creation and destruction, illustrating the mirror processes of biological and artistic renewal. We invite you to join us and consider the fragility of life and the potential for rebirth through the destruction of previous forms.

While our exhibition opening night will be Friday, September 26, we will also host a panel and a workshop on Saturday, September 27. More details to come!
About Genspace Biomaterials Studio
We are a community- driven biomaterial research group exploring, creating, and innovating at the intersection of materials, biology, and design. Biomaterials are collaborations between organisms synthesized into forms used for art, products, medicine, and construction. We actively cultivate a community of designers, artists, and scientists focused on finding alternative solutions to today’s materials using circular and regenerative systems.
About Genspace
Genspace is the world’s first community biology lab — a place where people of all backgrounds can learn, create, and grow with the life sciences. Since 2009, we have served the greater New York area by providing hands-on STEAM education programs for youth and adults, cultural and outreach events for the public, and a membership program to support New York’s community of creatives, researchers, and entrepreneurs. Our programs demystify scientific processes, provide a platform for innovation, and cultivate the next generation of life sciences leaders in emerging global technologies, such as biotechnology, neuroscience, epidemiology, genomics, and many more.
