

Juneteenth In Celebration Of International Freedom Day
"Juneteenth" is the freedom day of American slaves. In Finland we wish to honor the international immigrant community by including all people to celebrate the idea of freedom. The dress code is traditional costume or whatever you feel is your personal style. This celebration will include a Sri Lankan dance group, international musical performances and a fashion parade featuring traditional clothing from America, the Ukraine, Cameroon, Nigeria, and Tunisia. The panel discussion includes immigrants who have been newly elected to political positions in their cities. The speakers and lecturer are professionals who will bring their expertise in their speeches. The marketplace where companies can bring their roll-up and marketing materials is a way to understand what is in Turku and who is moving things towards integration. The international food service will be a party in your mouth. Many countries are coming together to share their traditional foods. On the menu will be, American style beans and rice, spring rolls cornbread, Sri Lankan meatballs, vegetarian samosas, Turkish tea, a variety of snacks, Mexican flat bread, barbequed chicken, southern fried chicken wings.
