“Zero To One” is a monthly conversation hosted by FirstCheck Africa on Clubhouse. By telling the journey stories of  a cross-section of post-seed stage founders, we want to provide relatable guidance for early-stage founders on key issues they will face with customer acquisition, fundraising and sales.

This month's conversation will focus on Chefaa's journey from ideation to acquiring their first 100 customers.

Chefaa is a platform that delivers all your pharmacy needs; prescriptions, non-prescription and wellness products to your doorstep in Egypt.

It was co-founded by two women, Doaa Aref (CEO) and Dr. Rasha Rady (COO).

In 2016, Doaa was diagnosed with cancer and had to be isolated after her radioiodine session. During this period, she was able to order everything she needed online, except for the thing her life depends on- her medicine. Doaa beat cancer but needed medication on a permanent basis.

While spending long hours in hospitals’ waiting rooms, she met other patients who shared her struggle of accessing medications and it became apparent that this was a problem that needed to be solved.

Doaa then collaborated with one of her longtime friends, Doctor Rasha Rady, to create Chefaa as a solution to the above problem.
