Legged Vehicles: Boom or Bust
Why are legged robots gaining traction, and are they truly the future of mobile robotics—or just a temporary hype?
In this week’s RoboTalk, Andres Gonzalez, Head of RoboTUM and Master student in Robotics & Mechatronics at TUM, explores the rapid evolution of legged robotic platforms. With over 6 years of experience in robotics, a patent, and two publications, Andres will dive into real-world applications, technological limitations, and what it takes for legged systems to move beyond the lab.
Learn how innovation, design trade-offs, and startup dynamics shape the rise (and risk) of quadrupeds and other legged robots.
A 15–20 minute talk will be followed by a 30–40 minute open discussion and Q&A.
RoboTalks is a weekly speaker series by RoboTUM – Innovation & Education, giving students, researchers, and professors the stage to share ideas and spark interdisciplinary exchange.
