About Event

Where have the rituals gone? And, no, your solitary skincare routine isn't the ritual I'm talking about. I'm talking full moons, transitions, life stages, loss, masks and meaningful dress, relics and song, bones and fire — earnest action grounded in community.

Let's talk about the role ritual plays in our personal lives, its history, how it's disappearing in modern life, what we're replacing it with, and what it would mean to introduce new rituals into our current lives. We'll talk about religion, secular rituals, relics, communal rituals, performance...

...and, most importantly, design and participate our own rituals. In this series, we embrace learning by doing and are open to creating time outside of sessions to explore the role and feeling of ritual in our own lives. We take a personal and emotional approach.

A note on the vibe and logistics of this circle

*This circle is not a non-committal drop-in gathering. We will be exploring things that are sacred, beautiful, personal. We aim to create a small, earnest, committed group.

*While we may bring in readings and content, this is not an academic study or “course”. Rather, we hope it can be a gathering of people seeking to explore their relationship to ritual and meaning-making through action, creation, and earnest participation.

*If you already have a few other campus circles you’re already committed to, this circle might not be the best fit to add on as we are hoping to gather and explore ritual together outside the meeting time, ad hoc, as well.

*Our first meeting will be an initiation ritual as well as a brainstorm of what we are hoping to explore through our gatherings — we intend to co-create this series with you!
