About Event

Join other sustainability leaders and pioneers to enjoy being out in nature and have inspiring conversations with your peers.

We will walk through the oak and birch woods alongside the River North Esk which has carved out a dramatic gorge through the rock to form Roslin Glen.

Today it's a green and peaceful place to escape from the city, but in the past the river powered industry here, including a carpet factory and a gunpowder mill.

🧭 The route:

  • Meeting point: Roslin Glen Country Park Car Park

  • Distance: 4.25km / 2.75 miles.

  • Ascent 120m.

  • Clear woodland and riverside paths, minor road. There are a large number of steps.

🚏 Getting here:

  • Bus to Roslin village, then a short walk to the meeting point (check Lothian Buses for options - note walking path avoiding narrow road)

  • By car, search Roslin Glen Country Park Car Park, nearest postcode is EH25 9PX

  • To reduce emissions and minimise car parking in the local area we encourage car sharing. If you can offer, or need, a lift please reach out in the event chat once you register, or email osbert@realise.earth

Here's our plan:

🕙 10:00 Gather at the meeting point for check in and introductions.

🥾 by 10:15 Start walking!

We're looking forward to a gentle pace, talking as we go, stopping from time to time for a snack and drink, some group conversations and to appreciate the natural world.

🥪 Bring a snack and drink (we like to have water and a flask of tea or coffee!)

🕑 13:00 We'll aim to be back at the start point and ready to head for home by 1pm.

Need to know: Enjoy netwalking safely - participation statement

At Realise Earth Ltd we want you to enjoy your walks with us safely. Walking in the countryside and in the hills exposes us to a certain amount of hazard and risk. These risks can involve: becoming cold and wet; minor cuts and bruises; damage to personal clothing and belongings; injury and, in some extreme and uncommon circumstances, loss of life.
