The McGill Ethics and Technology Roundtable: Ethics of Love in the Modern Age convenes scholars, cultural critics, and students to dissect the ethical dimensions of love in a world increasingly shaped by technology and shifting social norms. This roundtable interrogates the influence of digital dating platforms, AI-driven matchmaking, and reimagined relationship structures on intimacy, autonomy, and societal values. It further examines the polarization around romantic ideals and the effects of isolation and disconnection on love and belonging. Through interdisciplinary dialogue, the event aims to connect ethical theory with the real world effects of novel technologies, equipping participants to navigate the evolving complexities of connection, relationships, and the human condition.
This event is made possible through the generous support of the McGill Department of Philosophy, the Dean of Arts Development Fund, and the Laidley Centre for Business Ethics.
