🌿Nâi Katxapuvë🌿

Nâi Katxapuvë is a dedicated practitioner, organizer, and student of the sacred traditions of the Yawanawa people from the village of Mutum in the Amazon. Under the guidance of Chief Rasu and Chief Matsini, Nâi Katxapuvë has completed all three Seya dietas in Mutum, including Memé, Utxi, and Nené. Through these profound spiritual journeys, he has been entrusted with the learning and transmission of saitis (sacred chants), a vital element of Yawanawa spiritual practice.

With nearly six years of experience on the medicine path, Nâi Katxapuvë has cultivated a deep understanding of Rumé (hapé), a sacred ceremonial medicine from the Amazon. He has received authorization and carries the responsibility to serve hapé to those seeking its transformative and healing properties.

In addition to his personal spiritual practice, Nâi Katxapuvë organizes and leads groups into the Amazon to engage in spiritual studies and immersive retreats. He also facilitates Chief Rasu’s tours across the United States, working closely with the leaders of Mutum to promote the Yawanawa culture and share their wisdom.

Through his work, Nâi Katxapuvë bridges the ancient traditions of the Amazon with modern seekers, fostering a connection to nature, spirituality, and sacred medicine practices.

He is also a longtime hip-hop artist with over 20 years of experience, having started making music at the age of 15. Nâi Katxapuvë has toured internationally, showcasing his skills in this sacred art form. With more than a decade of event production experience, he is on a mission to blend the ancient knowledge of the mystic worlds of Egypt and Yawanawa spirituality with the modern realms of hip-hop, rap, and technology.

🌿Tara Johansen🌿

Tara Johansen is a devoted student and practitioner of Yawanawá spirituality. Rooted in the Memé and Utxi dietas, her path is woven with the study of Yawanawá chants and saitis, which she brings to life through guitar, guided by the força feminina (feminine strength) of her teachers.

A medium and somatic energy worker, Tara moves with reverence through medicine spaces, blending ancient music with modern connection. Her work uplifts the Yawanawá people’s voices, honoring their culture and carrying their sacred songs into the hearts of seekers.

🌿About The Aware Project🌿

The Aware Project is an independently-run, Southern California-based psychedelic society that is passionate about recovering the use of psychedelics and entheogens as culturally acceptable tools for healing, growth, celebration, spiritual connection, and personal and collective exploration.

We gather in community, as individuals from all walks of life, to learn, grow, and share.

Our aim is to balance the public conversation about psychedelics, spread accurate information, and give a new face to psychedelia.

We feel that this change will occur through connection and relationship, one individual at a time.

We are calling on everyone whose lives have been improved through the mindful use of psychedelics to educate themselves and become ambassadors for the psychedelic experience. Show those around you that people who use psychedelics mindfully cross all social, racial, economic, and political boundaries.
