About Event

Controversial Hacker and Former Head of Anonymous/LulzSec; Internationally Recognized Expert on Global Cyber Security Issues.

Hector Monsegur, better known online as “Sabu,” is one of the most infamous yet complex figures to emerge from the world of hacking. Raised on New York’s Lower East Side and largely self-taught beyond the ninth grade, Hector’s early technical brilliance propelled him into the ranks of Anonymous and LulzSec — groups that famously targeted corporations, governments, and security firms around the world.

After his arrest in 2011, Hector cooperated with the FBI, helping to thwart hundreds of planned cyberattacks and ultimately receiving a significantly reduced sentence. Today, he’s left the world of “black-hat” hacking behind to work as a respected white-hat security researcher and penetration tester for Fortune 500 companies and the U.S. government.

Beyond consulting, Hector co-hosts the acclaimed podcast The Hacker and the Fed with Chris Tarbell — the very FBI agent who once led his arrest — offering a rare inside look at cybersecurity, hacking culture, and lessons learned. In his own words: “Sabu was a character. That man doesn’t exist anymore.” Now, Hector is focused on ethical hacking, family, and sharing his story to help protect others from the threats he once embodied.
