Innovate UK's Women in Innovation Award: What you need to know

Plus: Why applying is a great idea.

Innovate UK's prestigious Women in Innovation award offers up to fifty winners every year a £50,000 grant to help fund their businesses.

We've invited Heather Lyons, a previous awardee, to share her experience of applying and winning so you can learn precisely how she did it.

During Heather's live video call, she'll be sharing:

  • tips and tricks for the application

  • how to write a winning application

  • how it's different from other Innovate UK applications

...there'll also be a Q&A in which you'll have time to get answers to your questions..

Speaker Bio:

Heather Lyons is the Founder and CEO of BlueShift Education a company on a mission to empower young people to be more than tech consumers, to be digital creators!

During lockdown, in 2020, the potential for online tools to make high quality education more accessible became apparent. Nonetheless, the set of tools BlueShift were forced to use (a hacked together suite consisting of Zoom, spreadsheets, online forms and presentation software) meant that classes were not nearly as effective as they could be. The evidence that BlueShift gathered was the basis for them winning the Women in Innovation grant, and subsequently raising angel investment and a further grant from UFI.

Innovate UK's Women in Innovation Award 2022/23:

This year, Innovate UK will invest up to £2.5million to high potential women innovators. Up to 50 winners will receive a £50,000 grant, plus tailored mentoring and business support.
