Kuchipudi Dance Workshop
Bhavana Reddy is conducting a special 2 hour virtual Kuchipudi dance workshop on Abhinaya and Body Conditioning, which is open to all!
DANCE & DRAMA in Kuchipudi Language
This workshop enables participants to understand the close relationship with Kuchipudi language that they experience in their daily lives. The students will use their bodies as an instrument to express feelings - both their own and those they have witnessed. This technique will facilitate not only opening up to expressing, but also, help one to empathize with others to express better. The participants will execute ancient body conditioning techniques providing strength and stamina training for Dance. They will learn and experience a spiritual devotion within themselves. By the end of the process each participant will experience their body and mind fully open to dance. They will then touch upon conquering space and time through Kuchipudi grammar.
Expected Outcomes:
Understanding how to connect with Abhinaya within and around you.
Brief Exploration of Abhinaya Darpanam.
Speaking in the language of Kuchipudi.
Body conditioning exercises prescribed by ancient Kuchipudi gurus.
Exploration of one’s body in time and space through Kuchipudi Adavus.

Daughter and Disciple of Kuchipudi Icons, Raja Radha Reddy, Bhavana represents an internationally prestigious legacy. She is a world renowned performer, two time national awardee, recipient of prestigious Jiri Kylian European grant, an empaneled artiste for Indian Diplomacy Council ICCR and National TV Broadcasting Doordarshan, as a specialist in Kuchipudi Dance to further diplomatic, political and cultural relations for India worldwide. She is listed as one the famous proponents of Kuchipudi in India’s Academic Textbooks set by National Council of Educational Research and Training. Her stage career spans over 3 decades and 4 continents. Bhavana has been closely mentored and her prowess honed by her father Dr. Raja Reddy (recipient of 3rd highest civilian award of India) to reign as a dancer extraordinaire, unrelenting educator, institution builder and innovative choreographer.
Dress Code:
Salwar kameez or your yoga/ gym clothes will do. Please keep a chunni or scarf that you can drape/ tie around your waist. Make sure that there is a gap of at least 30 minutes between your meal and the beginning of the dance workshop.
