Underwater Storytellers: Art, Media & Community for Ocean Action
Join Us for an Afternoon of Ocean-Inspired Reflection, Connection, and Inspired Action
Where marine activists, media, freedivers, and underwater visual artist storytellers converge, powerful currents of change begin. You're invited to an inspiring afternoon reception that fuels marine protection and ocean literacy across the Mediterranean and beyond.
Presented by Med Mosaic in collaboration with The Undertow and How to Protect the Ocean by Speak Up for Blue Podcast Network
This gathering marks the pre-launch of Med Mosaic, a new initiative connecting cross-border marine media collaborators, MENA women journalists, and coastal journalists to spotlight emerging marine threats and drive actionable awareness across the Mediterranean. Anchored in regions across the Med often underrepresented in global discourse—including North Africa—Med Mosaic empowers marine investigative journalism, uplifts coastal community voices, and strengthens media access to critical policy spaces like the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM).
Co-hosted with The Undertow, a dynamic platform and marketplace advancing ocean knowledge and action through stories of the human-ocean connection, and the How to Protect the Ocean podcast series, this event convenes ocean leaders, journalists, marine advocates, innovators, freedivers, and underwater artists who are shaping a more just and regenerative future. Together, we’ll reflect on our shared relationship with the ocean and explore the powerful role of storytelling, collaboration, creativity, and media in catalyzing meaningful ocean action across the Mediterranean and beyond.

About The Undertow
The Undertow is a mission-driven marketplace for ocean knowledge and action, powered by stories of the human-ocean connection. The Undertow exists to inspire both individuals and organizations to take ocean-positive action through immersive storytelling, place-based experiences, and strategic collaborations. Central to its work is the celebration of Way’veMakers™, change-makers who are initiating ocean action through their work across industries, sectors, communities, cultures, and coastlines.
By building community and amplifying impact, The Undertow’s mission is to inspire 10 million new ocean connections and unlock $5 million in ocean action by 2030, one meaningful connection at a time.
Co-founded by Serena Nguyen (Founder of Evolve Oceans), a Blue Economy Strategist; Amanda Horn (Founder of Shower ThoughtsTM), a Divemaster and Brand Marketer; and Andrew Lewin (Founder of Speak Up for Blue), a Marine Scientist and Podcast Host—three landlocked ocean leaders charting their own paths into ocean impact—The Undertow was born from the belief that no one navigates the ocean alone and that whatever your superpower is, the ocean needs it. Connection inspires action, and they're ready to pull you in with the stories and solutions of Way'veMakers so you can take action for the ocean from no matter where in the world you are.
