Resilient Red Hook City of Water Day 2025 ~ Strengthening Communities
Join Resilient Red Hook, John Jay Environment and Climate Justice and NYC Emergency Management to celebrate City of Water Day 2025!
This event activates the Red Hook network to participate in the NYC Emergency Management Strengthening Communities program. Through the program (beginning Fall 2025), we will build a diverse community coalition and progress through the following steps, funded and supported by NYC Emergency Management:
Needs Assessment
Resource Mapping
Communication Strategy
Donation & Volunteer Management
Community Emergency Plan
Through this innovative and collaborative training and development program, we will establish unity in the face of climate change - this year's City of Water Day theme.
The event begins with an elemental workshop exploring the four elements—Earth (boundaries), Fire (imagination), Space (letting go), and Water (flowing)—to reconnect with core values and co-create an emergency preparedness plan rooted in resilience.
Through interactive activities, we will gain practical skills to stay grounded, adaptive, and collaborative in the face of community challenges. Together, we’ll turn disruption into possibility by learning from both place and one another.
Following the elemental workshop, we will learn about Strengthening Communities from an NYC Emergency Management team member with time for brainstorming and questions.
** Please bring a chair or blanket for sitting during the event.
