# About the Film Maker
Hayao Miyazaki is a Japanese film director, animator, screenwriter, producer, author, and manga artist. He is considered one of the greatest animation filmmakers of all time, known for his imaginative storytelling, detailed animation, and attention to environmental and humanitarian issues. Miyazaki has directed many critically acclaimed and commercially successful animated films, including "My Neighbor Totoro," "Spirited Away," "Princess Mononoke," and "Howl's Moving Castle." He co-founded Studio Ghibli, a Japanese animation studio, in 1985 with Isao Takahata and has since produced many award-winning animated films. Miyazaki has won numerous awards for his work, including an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature for "Spirited Away" in 2003.
