Artists

Quentin Nolot | Artist-designer

Quentin Nolot is a French artist-designer based between Paris and Berlin. He discovered his style by blending musical hardware with various software to create unique renders, particularly for installations and performances, sound design, and music composition.

His work continually redefines and questions our relationship with the digital sphere, notably by eliminating standard interfaces, gathering data based on human movements and activities, and using it as a source of control and modulation.

This approach democratizes the use of certain software by providing tools that simplify user interaction. His most recent work is about a tool that generates Midi signal and music out from user’s movements.

Phil Tremble | Musician & Artist, Blockhaus DY10

Electronic musician, DJ, and self-taught sound artist, Phil Tremble began exploring modular synthesis in the 90s with the group Robonom. Since then, he has become an essential figure in the field of electronic and experimental music. Co-director of the Blockhaus DY10 studio, Phil is also behind numerous personal projects such as Rocade, WDO, and Tremble.

Phil Tremble will present the results of his work with MMM from the Metacreation Lab for Creative AI, showcasing a few pieces of music composed with the little help of MMM artificial intelligence.

For this presentation Quentin will share his thoughts about how he integrated AI within his workflow, how he used it in its practice, and what’s the position and the opinion of an artist regards this tool.

With thanks to the Vancouver Biennale, French Consulate, NSERC, SSHRC, the Vancouver Bienniele and the CCA.
