About Event

Every January we celebrate National Mentoring Month. Launched in 2002 by MENTOR National and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, National Mentoring Month brings national attention to the need for recruiting and supporting mentors.

Research confirms that quality mentoring relationships have powerful positive effects on individuals across ages in a variety of personal, academic, and professional situations. As part of Mentoring Month, Stanford Earth’s DEI office invites you to join a panel discussion on the role of the mentor from the perspectives of four extraordinary scholars: Lauren Abrahams (graduate student, GP), Morgan O’Neill (assistant professor, ESS), Pedro Monarrez (postdoctoral researcher, GS), Richard Nevle (deputy director, ESP).

The event will be an opportunity to reflect on our role as mentors or as mentees and demonstrate the value of this kind of relationship.

Let's celebrate the important role of mentors by participating on social media and sharing your mentoring stories. Feel free to join this national movement on social media using hashtags #MentoringAmplifies and #MentoringMonth throughout January!

If you need a disability-related accommodation, please contact Isabel Carrera Zamanillo via email: micz@stanford.edu. Requests should be made by January 21, 2022.
