Melanie Falick

Author of Making A Life: Working by Hand and Discovering the Life You Are Meant to Live

I am an independent writer, editor, and creative director—and a lifelong maker. I am the author, mostly recently, of Making a Life: Working by Hand and Discovering the Life You Are Meant to Live. I am the former publishing director of STC Craft/Melanie Falick Books, an imprint of Abrams, and the current creative director and editor of Modern Daily Knitting Field Guides.

My goal is to inspire as many people as I can to recognize and participate in making by hand as a pathway to individual, community, and environmental wellness. I truly believe that we can change the world for the better by sharing what we know about making by hand.

Making a Life: The Conversation is an online event series that I developed to further explore the themes of my book Making a Life: Working by Hand and Discovering the Life You Are Meant to Live. For each conversation, I invite one or more inspiring creatives to discuss the value and meaning of making by hand in the 21st century.
