About Event

** This is a LIVE interview with author Oisín McKenna about the craft of writing and reality of building a writing career. Attendees will be sent a recording after the interview. **

How can we experiment across different art forms? Where do performance and writing intersect?

OisĂn is a writer and artist working in fiction and performance. His debut novel, Evenings and Weekends, follows a cast of characters through a London heatwave as their simmering tensions and secrets come to a head. The book is a mesmerizing dive into the soul of a city and a searing look at what it takes to build a life there.

Join us for a conversation with Oisín as we delve into the creative journey behind Evenings and Weekends and explore how writing and performance inform one another.

We’ll also discuss:

  • The influence of theater on OisĂn's writing process

  • Writing across different artistic forms

  • The impact of funding and support from arts organizations on creative work

  • His journey from spoken word to writing novels
