About Event

Join a small group of founders (min 3, max 6) on a 30 foot Grady-White and tour a bit of Georgian Bay while talking startups. This one-day adventure will be weather influenced. We can go fishing for salmon and lake trout, try paddle boards at the sandy beaches of Giant's Tomb island, tour the Georgian Bay islands and grab lunch at Henry's (accessible only by boat), etc.

Who is this for? Founders at any stage. The intent is a lot like 'events' from a long time ago — those that show up are worth getting to know. You have to be open to meeting new people, open to sharing/learning, and not expect anything in return.

The cost to you is $100. Register for as many days as you want to try and make. A detailed plan for the day will be sent within 48 hours of the event. What is needed from you is:

  • Bring a life jacket if you have one

  • Fishing licence if you want to fish

  • The ability to get to Midland, ON for a 10 am 'leaving the dock' time (we can leave earlier if the group is keen).

  • Sunscreen

  • Sense of adventure

We will be on the water for at least 6 hours and there are lots of different combinations for the day. The boat comfortably fits 8 adults but we are capping each day at 6 (could make an exception to push the numbers up for a group).

What you will get out of it is a shared experience with other founders and a day to talk/connect.

We won't go out if fewer than 3 people register for a day and I will be doing some work approving the right mix of folks for each day. Just because you register doesn't mean you have a spot.

Wondering about the boat? It is a Grady-White Freedom 307 with lots of space, a flushing toilet, and some paddle boards, and can be rigged for serious fishing. We can move at a pretty high speed but generally cruise at ~27 knots. It is about as safe of a boat you could be on and it's built for this kind of daily adventure.
