🛸 Industrial Logistics Space Experience inside Varda Company 
Last month, the Varda Space Industries company announced a major test in preparation for the launch on Transporter 8, this drop test mimicked the sequence their vehicle will execute after reaching terminal velocity post re-entry. This was done with a flight-like vehicle, not a drop-test dummy. After the parachute experience, the company's founder, Delian Asparouhov said "Excited to announce that @VardaSpace passed a major flight test with flying colors!!". He still looking for sponsors as he is building the world's first industrial space manufacturing platform and earth re-entry logistics.
His company (@VardaSpace) is manufacturing in microgravity and make revolutionary products that are impossible to make on Earth due to gravity. Their spacecraft act as platforms for manufacturing these products and bringing them back down to improve life on Earth. Learn more here.

🚖 How autonomous flying taxis could change the way you travel
Flight is about to get a lot more personal, says aviation entrepreneur Rodin Lyasoff. In this visionary talk, he imagines a new golden age of air travel in which small, autonomous air taxis allow us to bypass traffic jams and fundamentally transform how we get around our cities and towns. "In the past century, flight connected our planet," Lyasoff says. "In the next, it will reconnect our local communities." I can't imagine the cost of these individual machines if Tesla or Name X cars are highly expensive for green transportation. Watch here.

I read this recent thread by Space Cadet that demystify the power personified of energy autonomy systems and its accessibility to human. 



🧽 Sponge Cities are sopping up climate change
When it rains, it pours. And climate change means it’s been raining more than ever.
Global cities, built in dryer times, aren’t prepared to handle the flooding caused by increased rainfall. Where there was once grass and soil to soak up water, there’s now impenetrable cement. (Something about paving paradise to put up a parking lot.)
To prepare for soggier days ahead…… urban planners around the world are transforming concrete jungles into “sponge cities,” per Wired. Sponge cities are structured to soak up water rather than repel it, using tools like:

Permeable surfaces, such as concrete bricks separated by crushed stone
Rain gardens, which can divert and collect excess rainwater
Vegetated swales, AKA plant-filled ditches that soak up runoff water
But water isn’t always bad
As storms become more frequent and severe, so will droughts — so the ability to collect groundwater for drinking, cooking, and cleaning will be invaluable.
In case Mother Earth didn’t have enough problems, sea levels are rising, making spongy infrastructure even more important for coastal cities.
And you might absorb some of the cost: Cities such as Pittsburgh and Los Angeles are already taxing residents for their property’s impermeable surfaces.

Now, they're thrilled that Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story, the new memoir from U2 frontman Bono, is available on Spotify as an audiobook.

Be A Magnet 
It's human nature to worry about the things that can go wrong.
But often overlooked is the mentality of attraction instead of detraction, or in other words focusing on what you can bring to the table instead of what you can prevent from happening.

While so many companies signal they want entrepreneurial candidates yet don't allow side projects, want out of the box thinkers yet expect them to work in a box (office), and vow they only hire top talent yet pay below market rate... there's power in thinking through whether you're truly focusing on attracting the right people or just trying to prevent wrong behavior.

But often overlooked is the mentality of attraction instead of detraction, or in other words focusing on what you can bring to the table instead of what you can prevent from happening.

While so many companies signal they want entrepreneurial candidates yet don't allow side projects, want out of the box thinkers yet expect them to work in a box (office), and vow they only hire top talent yet pay below market rate... there's power in thinking through whether you're truly focusing on attracting the right people or just trying to prevent wrong behavior.

Why Geneva?  Simple answer, Geneva is the best place to stay connected with people, makers and creatives. It's more private than Facebook and more fun than Slack. 

💼 What's the Afterwork LAB?
Afterwork Lab is my community studio for experimental community design. It's a project I started in the beginning of 2021, with a main goal: break the ice to community strategy and growth for small product-based businesses and e-commerce brands. 
The community studio helps small businesses and e-commerce brands to build their brand communities with a community audit and MVC (Minimal Viable Community) to design better community strategies to build, keep engagement and grow their communities as a result.

​We are using Geneva for our Home. We're digitally residents their but IRL events are coming.

Geneva is the chat app for groups, clubs and communities. The NY-based company started  to help people stay connected to the groups they love and help them make new friends through the groups they have yet to find. I met their community team, Sam, before their official launch and it was a fruitful meeting about their community vision to the world.

Nothing special this week. I immerse myself into works, I attended two online summits met mew friends and it was a magnificent community experience. 

The first is Growth Summit by Demand Curve and the second is the Community Business Summit by Business of Community. So much to share, but I'll leave all the notes here next week.
Last Friday I read an email issue from Future Commerce explaining how fashionable are the ideas and beliefs not only in the e-commerce perspective but in life generally, thanks to the abundance of new information which gives us the permission to change our minds like we change our clothes.
Realizing our imperfections encourage us to believe in reincarnation than it is to try to speedrun life to perfection. If we had multiple lifetimes to be given the latitude to make mistakes and to improve over time, we'd approach every day with a little less seriousness. 
Because we live in unprecedented times (as we collectively gag at that phrase), our process for forming personal discernment and conviction around these ideas is at an evolutionary disadvantage.

As you might have guessed from my 3+ months long absence, I can no longer continue writing this newsletter on a regular basis. 
I’ve gone all in on Areej Fragrance and I foresee this taking up most of my mental space into the near future. My days now mostly revolve around back to back brand communities development, team meetings, product prioritization, and finding time in between to raise good humans and keep them alive.

So what's the major news?
Yes, I have big announcements to share with you, and I would like to thank you all, one by one to be part of my tiny world, this newsletter. 

I reached out to the Hollywood actor Dar Dixon after seeing a 'Quoted Tweet' where he was advising a young man to not tweet/write that kind of shiny marketing titles.. It was resonating with my perspective as I was battling for the past 2+ months of continuous work, days and nights to bring a pre-seed investment and build the new business castle after I lost (get scammed) 40,000 Moroccan dirhams! 
Here's what happened!
I knew Dar since I was a kid watching movies and series on MBC ACTION and MBC 2 that time. What really triggered me the last couple of weeks is I went to tweet some ideas were stuck on my mind and found few "viral tweets". As someone who has his opinion on things, I check the quoted tweets to see if are resonating with me.  Hopefully I did and it was Dar quoting a tweet titled "the best newsletters that can replace your MBA", and that wasn't true. 
I got his email reply and I had one of the best virtual meetings in my life. It wasn't like any of the meetings I had with startup founders in the past couple years. It was Dar Dixon, the beautiful mind and soul who gave me the keys of astonishment. We talked for an a hour and a half and it was a great connection of two brains and two souls. I learnt a lot by listening to his stories and learnings from his 3 decades record and sometimes interrupting (I was SO excited and enjoying the discussion). I Hope he forgive me, but hey, he's Dar ❤️. 
Twitter these days is full of bulshit, lies and fake delusional startups advice and entrepreneurial mindset. That was part of our discussion beside success and failure stories, he even told me he possessed his very first acting card at the age of 29 that actors used to have that time when he came out to the United States, escaped a revolution and a cult from Iran.

Web3 communities and the blockchain sh##t
New communities are emerging on the internet by way of NFTs, giving individuals an opportunity to stake land and foster community in designated spaces constructed through residential avatars.
In this context, web3 plays its role because it's a back-end revolution and nothing that makes your webspace more likeable or interactive.
Since the novelties happen at the level of the code, it is not easy for the user to grasp what a huge revolution it is. Web3 changes our data structure as it democratizes information by giving all users the same level of accessibility.
There is full transparency and privacy is preserved thanks to cryptography.
There is no centralized entity governing the crypto-world, no bank issues any currency but bitcoins are regularly exchanged.
The whole system works because there is an open-source protocol that everybody must agree with before performing network actions.

Obviously there are a lot to figure out on the blockchain, tokens and crypto economies.

🇬🇧 Today I 'traveled' virtually to London to attend the Community Managers Unconference, it was a great opportunity to meet new friends from the community ecosystem like James, Derek and Vian and to learn new things as well as hearing great ideas to feed my discovery experience
🇬🇧 #CMGR Unconference(s) is a hybrid online + in-person unconferences for community managers (CMGR) and builders, and it's run by @jaCattell

The CMGR Unconference team completed 4 unconference sessions, including a lean coffee session to get through as many discussion topics as possible. The event was sponsored by the Rommies 🖤 @CommonRoomHQ and hosted by Newspeak House.

📙 One Book: Token Economy 
The Token Economy is a great introduction to the economy of electronic tokens and a fascinating vision of web3 Shermin Voshmgir has a gift for explaining the complex technology of block chains, tokens, and virtual currencies in a clear and straightforward way, especially for readers that are interested in the application of the technology but don’t have the technical background to keep up with latest developments.

The book provides a pathbreaking contribution to understand the intersection of cryptology, technology, and economics; an important subject that deserves further attention.

New communities are emerging on the internet by way of NFTs, giving individuals an opportunity to stake land and foster community in designated spaces constructed through residential avatars.

In this context, web3 plays its role because it's a back-end revolution and nothing that makes your webspace more likeable or interactive.

Since the novelties happen at the level of the code, it is not easy for the user to grasp what a huge revolution it is. Web3 changes our data structure as it democratizes information by giving all users the same level of accessibility.

There is no centralized entity governing the crypto-world, no bank issues any currency but bitcoins are regularly exchanged.

The whole system works because there is an open-source protocol that everybody must agree with before performing network actions.
