βποΈ Talks
βWordPressΒ β€οΈΒ React (Using Blocks) by Matt Jennings
βMatt will give a brief intro to using WordPress (WP) and React while demoing his Weekly Meetings Block WordPress Plugin, created using WordPress-specific npm packages and React (see demo and GitHub repo).
Matt will discuss how his WP plugin relates to the WP admin and front-end and will briefly talk about other WP and React-related topics.
βDRY, not parched by Will Migdol
βRecently when working on a project, I tried to write my code to be as optimal as possible to be DRY. The issue was that by doing this, I overengineered a lot of the code to be more DRY than it needed to be which increased a lot of the tech debt in my codebase and actually made it harder to maintain. I would like to give a talk about when DRY is good and when simpler solutions can be better.
βPushing the Limits of Big Data in the Browser by Kenny Daniel
βA radical new take on how to architect large data applications entirely in JavaScript β no python required. This talk covers how I built the open-source libraries Hyparquet and HighTable for loading Apache Parquet files client-side in the browser.
