Strategy in Turbulence: Miami 2025

Turbulence (/ˈtɜːr.bjə.ləns/): A state of great commotion or agitation.

"The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence; it is to act with yesterday's logic."

- Peter Drucker

Join us on February 25, 2025, in Miami for a pivotal summit designed for Chief Strategy Officers and Chief Innovation Officers navigating one of the most unpredictable periods in modern history.

Turbulence dominates the corporate strategist's agenda today.

Not just new fiscal policies, geopolitical uncertainties, and rapidly evolving technologies like AI, but the convergence of these factors against the backdrop of growing sustainability costs, distributed energy systems, automation, and the digitization of value. The ability to navigate through turbulence may determine the future success of your organization.

This exclusive Outthinker Network summit brings together strategy and innovation leaders from large enterprises to share insights, strategies, and practices for planning amid uncertainty. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from top experts and peers tackling the same challenges you face every day.

WHY ATTEND?

  1. How do you pivot your strategy to embrace disruption rather than resist it?

  2. What frameworks can you implement today to prepare for the unpredictable challenges of tomorrow?

  3. How will AI and automation reshape your industry—and how can you gain a competitive edge?

  4. What regulatory and compliance changes will define 2025 and beyond, and how should you prepare?

  5. How do leaders sustain long-term growth while managing short-term volatility?

This is not just a typical conference. It’s an opportunity to engage in a peer-to-peer exploration of strategy applications. It is a transformational experience designed to equip you with the tools, insights, and connections you need to lead effectively in turbulent times.

SESSION DESCRIPTIONS

Agile Budgeting with Eric Woodard

How can we help our organizations allocate resources with the speed and flexibility demanded in turbulence—without losing financial discipline? In today’s environment of heightened uncertainty and accelerating change, traditional, annual budgeting processes are unable to match the pace of change in our environments, risking locking companies into rigid plans that reach obsolescence before their due date. In this session, Eric Woodard, Chief Strategy Officer at Primerica, former Consultant at Bain & Company, and co-author of their insights on Agile Budgeting, will guide Outthinker members through an exploration of how leading enterprises are shifting from static annual budgets to dynamic, responsive financial planning that enables innovation and growth. We will unpack practical techniques for aligning budgets with strategic priorities, reallocating resources efficiently, and making real-time investment decisions—so your organization can move faster, stay competitive, and turn turbulence into opportunity.

How AI will Shape the Future of Strategy with David Duncan

What happens to strategy when AI can generate, test, and refine it in real-time—at the push of a button?

As AI advances from a tool for analysis to a driver of decision-making, the very nature of strategy formulation is being redefined. In this session, David Duncan, author of The Secret Lives of Customers, former Innosight Partner, and long-time collaborator of Clayton Christensen, will lead a thought-provoking discussion on how AI is transforming the strategy function itself.

This session is not just about crafting an AI strategy—identifying use cases, setting guardrails, and driving adoption—but about the future role of the strategy office in a world where a competitive advantage may hinge on the ability to frame the right prompts and determine what data and recommendations to trust. Organizations that anticipate and adapt to this shift will position themselves ahead of the curve. Join us to explore what it takes to navigate and lead in this AI-driven strategic future.

Challenge Forum Rapid Rounds: Peer-Powered Problem Solving

If you could convene a room full of strategy leaders to focus on your most pressing challenge for 15 minutes, what question would you ask?

This highly interactive session is built on the belief that some of the most valuable insights don’t come from the stage but from peer-to-peer learning and dialogue. At the Outthinker Strategy Summit, we keep participation intentionally small to ensure air time to allow for true peer-to-peer exchange—not just passive listening.

This session brings Outthinker’s popular Challenge Forum— regularly conducted for members in a one-hour virtual format—to life in real-time, in person, and in a compressed format. In these fast-paced, 15-minute peer coaching exercises, the entire room will focus on one member’s real, urgent strategic challenge. Whether it’s setting up a PMO, influencing leadership to embrace long-term thinking, or driving AI adoption, you’ll receive rapid-fire insights from 20+ chief strategy and innovation peers who really have your best interest at heart and will share their experiences, perspectives, and solutions.

Think of this as a pop-up, closed-door advisory board—a room full of trusted, smart, and curious peers offering candid, actionable advice tailored to your challenge. It’s an experience that’s nearly impossible to replicate elsewhere.

Panel Discussion: Navigating the Convergence of Emerging Technologies

When organizations develop an AI strategy, a blockchain strategy, or a robotics strategy, they often approach these technologies as separate, independent initiatives. But the real breakthroughs happen at the intersections—when we understand how technologies build on, enable, and accelerate each other.

In this dynamic panel discussion, leading strategists and technologists will bring their unique perspectives to piece together the bigger picture of technological convergence. We’ll explore:

  • The current state and likely timelines of key emerging technologies—AI, IoT, 3D printing, robotics, and beyond—to understand when they will mature.

  • How these technologies interact, amplifying each other’s capabilities and unlocking possibilities beyond what any single one could achieve alone.

  • The new markets, business models, and organizational shifts that will emerge from these combined innovations.

This session is not about tracking individual trends—it’s about understanding the future landscape that will shape strategy and innovation. Join us to connect the dots, see what’s coming next, and rethink what’s possible when these technologies converge.
