Project Angel Food // Volunteering Day
Project Angel Food is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Los Angeles County which provides free meals for people too sick to shop and cook for themselves. Project Angel Food serves the majority of Los Angeles County; South Los Angeles and Metro Los Angeles are the two largest service areas for the organization.
We'll be meeting for the afternoon shift to help support this amazing organization. We only have 15 volunteer spots - first come, first serve!
Please meet at the Ave 26th entrance. You will see a blue Project Angel Food sign on the door.
Parking is a bit of a challenge. There is street parking, but please watch signs closely. There is absolutely no parking in the back lot. We encourage carpooling, rideshare, and public transportation. The blue line stop at Lincoln/Cypress is only 2 blocks away, and there are several buses that stop right near us.
Please arrive promptly by 12:15pm for your orientation. We will begin orientation when all the participants arrive, no later than 12:30pm.
Ask for someone in Volunteer Services when you arrive.
Your shift will end around 4pm.
Please wear closed-toe, rubber-soled, flat shoes when working in the kitchen. No sandals.
Wear comfortable clothes (No cut-offs/midriffs, cap sleeves or tank tops, please)-- no shorts or skirts, long pants only.
Health Department Regulations prohibit all jewelry on hands, fingers, and arms. Please leave all valuable jewelry at home. No earrings are permitted.
You will need to cover your heads and hairnets will be provided. Hats can be worn over the hair net.
Please don’t forget to sign in and out for every shift.
Please remember, only scheduled volunteers will be allowed in the building. No walk-ins and no bringing guests without scheduling them.
Runny nose or cough, even if you think it is allergies – Cannot Volunteer
Project Angel Food would not be able to prepare and deliver the more than 3,000 meals that go out every day without volunteers like the Giraffes! If you have any questions or changes, please text or call Jennifer at (310) 745-6546.
